President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev spoke about the Caspian Sea water desalination project in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Shirvan irrigation canal, which will be rebuilt in the Hajigabul district on April 16.

Axar.az reports that the head of state, who stated that work is currently underway on the Caspian Sea water desalination project, said:

"After this project is implemented, we will use the water of the Caspian Sea for both irrigation and drinking water. Few countries in the world have great experience in the field of desalination, and we also have a large water basin like the Caspian Sea. Of course, we will use this opportunity."
