A fake video address of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan prepared using “deep-fake” technologies, was posted on several social network accounts, as well as fake information that does not reflect the truth about the crash of a passenger plane belonging to “Azerbaijan Airlines” in Aktau on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Axar.az reports citing the Media Development Agency.
It was noted that this fake information, which does not reflect any reality, is part of a disinformation campaign that is a centralized intervention in the information environment of Azerbaijan.
"We urge the public to trust only the information provided by official sources and remind them that the official website and social media accounts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan are always active and promptly cover the activities of the head of state. At the same time, you can obtain relevant information expressing the official position of the state from the official website and social media accounts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
We once again call on Azerbaijani citizens, journalists, and public activists to always demonstrate a principled position against such cases and to be vigilant in an environment where fake and disinformation-based campaigns are gaining momentum," the statement emphasized.
