Azerbaijan sets new record with historic 6-1 win

The Azerbaijan national football team has recorded the biggest victory in its history, setting a new benchmark for the squad.

Axar.az reports this achievement came during the “FIFA Series-2026” international tournament in a match against Saint Lucia.

Under the guidance of head coach Ayxan Abbasov, the team delivered a commanding performance, defeating their opponents 6-1.

This result surpasses the national team’s previous record. Azerbaijan’s prior largest win was a 5-1 victory over San Marino in 2017, during the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.

Another significant triumph in the team’s history came in 1999, when Azerbaijan defeated Liechtenstein 4-0 in an official international match, a record that stood for years.

With the 6-1 win over Saint Lucia, the Azerbaijan national team now claims its most decisive victory ever, marking a historic moment in the country’s football history.
