Sabah secure fourth straight clean-sheet win

Sabah have secured their fourth consecutive clean-sheet victory at the start of the 2026/27 Azerbaijan Premier League season.

Axar.az reports, citing the official website of the Professional Football League (PFL), that this is only the fourth such run in the history of the country’s top flight. Khazri achieved the feat in the 1995/96 season, Khazar Lankaran in 2017/18, and Qarabag in 2019/20, winning their first four matches without conceding a goal. While the goal difference was 6-0 21 years ago and 10-0 in the following two runs, Sabah have won their four matches by a more impressive 11-0.

Sabah, who defeated Shafa 3-0 in the fifth round, have secured their 10th big away victory in the Premier League. The capital-based club became the 11th team in the league’s history to record at least 10 such wins. Their first came on December 16, 2021, when they defeated Sabail 3-0.

Veljko Simic, who scored in the match, netted his 20th goal for Sabah. He reached the milestone in his 46th appearance for the club. The Serbian midfielder has scored 13 goals in the Premier League (31 appearances), one in the cup (six appearances), and six in the UEFA Champions League (nine appearances).
