Negotiations regarding a friendly football match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Russia have been suspended.

Axar.az reports that at one of the last meetings of the Union of European Football Associations, representatives of the Russian Football Union and the Association of Azerbaijan Football Federations discussed the possibility of holding the game in the first half of 2025. However, official negotiations regarding the match did not take place. Now, a possible meeting is not being discussed due to the tension in the relationship between the two countries.

"Official negotiations regarding the friendly match between the national teams did not result. After the downing of the Azerbaijani plane on the territory of Russia, AFFA temporarily limited the issue of a possible match," said several sources familiar with the situation.
