Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas has resigned.

Axar.az reports that the Lithuanian Radio and Television portal reported the news, citing the country’s President Gitanas Nausėda.

“G. Paluckas called this morning and announced his resignation,” the president stated.

The portal notes that Paluckas has decided to step down from both his position as Prime Minister and as Chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party.

Earlier, the president had given him two weeks to decide on his political future following a corruption scandal.
