Two killed in Parafield Airport plane crash in Australia

Two people have died and several others have been injured after a plane crash at Parafield Airport in Adelaide’s north, Australia.

Axar.az informs, citing ABC, the aircraft struck a hangar while attempting to land at around 2:10 p.m. local time. The impact triggered a large fire, which has since been extinguished.

Police said the two fatalities were the pilot and passenger of a Diamond DA42 twin-engine aircraft, while several people on the ground were also injured.

“Shortly after take-off, the plane has tragically crashed into Hangar 54 at the airport,” Chief Inspector Andrew McCracken told reporters at the scene.

“Upon collision, that has obviously caused significant injuries, fire and damage,” he added.

One person suffered life-threatening burns and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Two others were hospitalised with serious injuries, while another sustained minor injuries. Six more people were treated for smoke inhalation.

Authorities said all of the injured were inside the hangar at the time of the crash.
