Azerbaijan, Serbia hold political consultations in Belgrade

Another round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Serbia was held in Belgrade on July 28.

Axar.az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Serbian delegation was headed by State Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Damjan Jovic.

During the meeting, the sides discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as the current state and prospects for cooperation in the political, economic, energy and humanitarian fields.

They also exchanged views on interaction on international platforms, further developing cooperation within various international organizations, and expanding the treaty and legal framework between the two countries.

As part of the political consultations, Azerbaijan briefed the Serbian side on the steps it is taking to promote lasting peace and cooperation in the region, the humanitarian challenges posed by the mine threat in the liberated territories, and large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects being carried out in those areas.

During the visit, Rzayev also held meetings with Adviser to the President of Serbia Tatjana Jovic and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus. He also took part in a roundtable discussion with researchers and experts at Serbia's Institute of International Politics and Economics.
