Azerbaijan claims two U-17 wrestling bronzes

Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestler Omar Salmanov has won a bronze medal at the U-17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku.

Axar.az reports that Salmanov defeated Georgia's Giorgi Chikvadze 7-1 in the 48kg bronze-medal match to secure a place on the podium.

Orkhan Habibli also claimed a bronze medal.

Competing in the 65kg weight class, Habibli defeated India's Kunal Dagal 7-5 to finish third.

Later today, Isfahan Hasanov will compete for the gold medal in the 80kg category.

The U-17 World Wrestling Championships, being held at the National Gymnastics Arena, have brought together nearly 700 young wrestlers from more than 60 countries. Azerbaijan is represented by 29 athletes at the tournament.
