Kobakhidze calls Moldova Europe’s most corrupt country

Moldova is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, and comparing it with Georgia is a baseless speculation.

Axar.az informs that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made the remarks while speaking to journalists about the readiness of different countries to join the European Union.

“Moldova is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe. This also affects economic growth. Over the past five years, since 2022, we have increased the gap with the Moldovan economy by $14 billion. This is also the result of corruption and the institutional crisis that has been created in Moldova. That is the overall picture. At such a time, saying that Moldova or Ukraine are ahead of Georgia is a baseless speculation,” Kobakhidze said.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkiye, Ukraine, and Montenegro all have official EU candidate status. Previously, Georgian authorities have repeatedly stated that the country will be ready to join the EU by 2030.
