Although the U.S. previously supported such purchases for the stability of global energy markets, India has now become a target of Western attacks for importing oil from Russia.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Randhir Jaiswal, official representative of India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
“India became a target of the U.S. and the European Union because it imported oil from Russia after the conflict in Ukraine. In fact, India began importing oil from Russia because its traditional supplies were redirected to Europe after the conflict. At the time, the U.S. was actively encouraging such imports to help stabilize global energy markets,” the ministry official said.
It should be noted that former U.S. President Donald Trump previously threatened India with tariffs.
