U.S. President Donald Trump is on the verge of brokering a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Republican Party member and U.S. Senator Steve Daines in an article for The Wall Street Journal.

“This will be a great achievement – another step toward stability contributing to regional and international peace, as well as bringing economic benefits far beyond the borders of the participating countries,” he said.

According to the senator, most peace-making attempts by third countries or organizations have failed. Daines noted that previous U.S. administrations did not prioritize the region or peace talks.

He added that Trump promotes growth and stability both in the region and beyond.

Daines also stated that the soon-to-be-signed agreement by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan would contribute to peace and stability in the South Caucasus and the world.
