On August 8, U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommie Pigott neither confirmed nor denied the administration’s intention to impose sanctions against Russia.

Axar.az reports that he made this statement in response to a question during a briefing:

“There is a lot of speculation here. I’m not going to speculate on this topic,” he said.

It should be noted that on July 14, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he would give Russia 50 days to reach an agreement on resolving the situation around Ukraine, after which he intended to impose 100% trade tariffs on Moscow and its trading partners. On July 29, Trump announced that the deadline had been reduced to 10 days.
