At least 450 protesters were arrested in London on 9 August 2025 during a rally opposing the UK government’s ban on Palestine Action, a direct action group proscribed as a terrorist organisation in July under anti-terror laws.

Axar.az reports that the ban followed an incident in which Palestine Action members entered RAF Brize Norton and spray-painted aircraft they claimed were used in Gaza and Middle East military operations.

Under the new legislation, membership or support for the group carries a penalty of up to 14 years in prison — the first time a UK direct action group has been designated as a terrorist organisation.

Palestine Action has secured a judicial review to challenge the ban in court.
