NATO member countries are prepared to shoot down UAVs and fighter jets that violate their airspace.

Axar.az reports that the publication Bild cited a joint statement by the alliance’s 32 members.

According to the publication, NATO headquarters has called an emergency meeting of the alliance for consultations under Article 4. The meeting was held at Estonia’s initiative. It was prompted by Russia’s MiG-31 fighters violating the country’s airspace.

The statement said the alliance and its partners will, in accordance with international law, use all necessary military and non-military means to defend themselves and counter threats from all directions, and that NATO may strike not only UAVs but also Russian fighters if they are considered a threat to alliance territory.
