Eight people have been arrested in Russia’s Leningrad region for involvement in the distribution of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.
Axar.az informs that reports that the regional prosecutor’s office released the information.
“The Leningrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office continues to monitor the situation related to poisoning from counterfeit alcohol in the region. During the oversight of fatal poisonings in Slantsy and Volosovsky, several searches were conducted, and eight individuals involved in the spread of fake alcohol were detained,” the statement said.
According to the office, more than 1,000 liters of alcoholic beverages were seized as part of the criminal case. Authorities are working to identify the source of the supply into the region, and preventive measures are being considered against the suspects.
It should be noted that at least 19 people in the Slantsy district of Russia have died from consuming bootleg alcohol.
