The Armenian government will organize a nationwide referendum on the adoption of a new Constitution if it is re-elected in the country's snap parliamentary elections in 2026.

Axar.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in his speech at the UN rostrum.

"We intend to take the next step in the near future to make our achievements in the field of democracy more institutional and people-oriented. After receiving the mandate of the people again in the 2026 parliamentary elections, we will launch a nationwide referendum on the adoption of a new Constitution, as a result of which all branches of government and the legal system in the country will be established in accordance with the Constitution. It is the people who make Armenia's statehood sustainable and society-centered," Pashinyan noted.
