Armenia's sovereignty over the road to be opened between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is recognized by Azerbaijan and the United States.
Axar.az reports that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said this in an interview with DW.
The minister claimed that the name of this road is TRIPP and that it does not have the status of an extraterritorial corridor:
"We are talking not only about passages, but also about connecting the mainland of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The agreement provides for the opening of all transport communications and infrastructure between the two countries. For example, we also get access to the Azerbaijani railways, and Azerbaijan to our railway. Everything will be like ordinary neighbors. We will be able to move through each other's territories. We have agreed on this. Management will be carried out by an Armenian-American consortium. Of course, contractors can also be involved to provide services, and these companies should be selected by mutual agreement."
Mirzoyan stressed that the potential company to be selected must be approved by both Armenia and the United States: "We are open to cooperation, we can work with many countries. We do not exclude anyone, but applications from some countries may be rejected."
