Trump expands travel ban to 39 countries

President Donald Trump has significantly expanded U.S. travel bans and restrictions, increasing the number of affected countries from 19 to 39.

Axar.az, citing CBS, reports that the new proclamation adds seven countries under full entry bans and imposes partial restrictions on 15 more, citing concerns over vetting, weak record-keeping, terrorism, corruption, and armed conflict.

The order also bans entry for travelers using Palestinian Authority documents and removes a previous exemption for close family members of U.S. citizens.

Some exceptions remain, including for permanent residents and participants in major sporting events. The expansion follows renewed security concerns and builds on legal authority upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018.
