The first meeting of the Strategic Working Group on the preparation of the Azerbaijan-US Strategic Partnership Charter (SPCC) was held.

The meeting was held online and in full. The working group was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and Assistant Deputy Secretary of State Sonata Coulter from the US side.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of bilateral cooperation in the priority areas identified in the Memorandum of Understanding on the preparation of the SPCC, signed on August 8 within the framework of the Washington Peace Summit, were discussed.
In particular, cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, transit, regional connectivity, economic investments, including artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, as well as defense, security, and counterterrorism were discussed.
The parties highly appreciated the bilateral contacts and discussions held in the indicated areas since August 8. In addition, views were exchanged on the text of the Strategic Partnership Charter, which will determine the directions of mutually beneficial cooperation in these and other key areas. The importance of agreeing on the document as soon as possible was emphasized.
Based on the results of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the dates and agenda of the next meeting.
