Telegram hit by partial restrictions in Russia

The Telegram messaging app has come under partial restrictions in Russia.

Axar.az informs, citing Russian media, users have been increasingly complaining since the start of the year about slow video loading in the app. One source confirmed that the service disruption is linked to new measures introduced by Roskomnadzor.

The restrictions are described as targeted rather than a full ban on the messenger.

In August 2025, Roskomnadzor had already imposed restrictions on Telegram by blocking voice calls through the app, citing its use in fraud schemes, extortion, and other cybercrimes.
