Iran threates to hit Mideast economic hubs if attacks persist

A general from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that if U.S.–Israeli attacks continue, Tehran will retaliate by targeting “all economic centers” across the Middle East.

Axar.az reports, citing ISNA, that Ebrahim Jabbari threatened: “We are telling the enemy that if it chooses to strike our primary centers, we will strike every economic center in the region,” Ebrahim Jabbari said.

“We have closed the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices are currently above $80 and will soon rise to $200,” he was quoted as saying by Iran’s ISNA news agency, as Brent crude surpassed $85 for the first time since July 2024.

Iran has launched strikes against targets in Israel and across the Gulf following the onset of U.S.–Israeli airstrikes on Saturday.
