Serbia invests €2 million to restore Ukraine’s power grid

Serbia, one of Russia’s political allies in Europe, has decided to invest in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector.

Axar.az reports, citing UNDP, that the Government of Serbia and the United Nations Development Program have signed a €2 million (approximately $2.15 million) financing agreement to support the country’s electricity transmission capacity.

The funds will be used to purchase and deliver high-voltage transformers, which are critical for restoring the power grid and providing stable electricity to millions of Ukrainians.

This initiative is part of the UNDP Green Energy Recovery Program.

Serbia’s ambassador to Ukraine, Andon Sapundzi, said that Serbia stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, who are facing unprecedented challenges in energy security.

“This contribution is a tangible demonstration of our support for restoring essential services, ensuring that hospitals, schools, and homes remain powered during these difficult times.”
