Armenia may leave CSTO and EAEU if gas prices rise

If Russia raises gas prices, Armenia will withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Axar.az informs that Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said this during a briefing for journalists today.

“I should note that if such a decision is made (if gas prices are increased), the Republic of Armenia will make its own choice and will fully withdraw not only from the CSTO but also from the EAEU and other related structures,” Simonyan emphasized.

Nevertheless, the parliament speaker believes the situation will not reach that point:

“But I don’t think it will come to that, because I also know that the country’s leaders have had a very good, businesslike, and productive discussion,” he added.
