US evacuates 1,500 sailors from Bahrain base

The U.S. has carried out a large-scale evacuation from one of its military bases in the Middle East.

Axar.az informs, citing NPR, that about 1,500 service members and their families were evacuated from the base in Bahrain, home to the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet.

Hundreds of sailors were sent back to the U.S. following missile and drone strikes by Iran. Evacuations are also reportedly taking place at other U.S. bases in the region.

The Pentagon has not yet officially confirmed the reports.
