Assassin of Shinzo Abe sentenced to life

Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, accused of assassinating Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Axar.az reports that Japanese media have provided this information.

The defendant has admitted to his crime.

Recall that the assassination attempt on S. Abe took place on July 8, 2022, during a campaign speech in Nara city ahead of the Upper House elections. The killer shot the former prime minister twice with a homemade firearm.
