Over 120 killed in militant attacks in Pakistan

More than 120 people have been killed in attacks by militants from the separatist Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Pakistan.

Axar.az reports that AFP quoted official sources as saying.

The militants attacked banks, prisons, and military installations in Balochistan province.

According to the Pakistani army, at least 18 civilians, 15 security personnel, and 92 attackers were among the dead. One official said a deputy district commissioner had been kidnapped during the clashes.

Mobile internet has been cut off in the province for more than 24 hours, traffic has come to a standstill, and rail services have been completely suspended. The provincial capital, Quetta, has been virtually deserted since the blasts.

“No one who leaves their homes can be sure that they will return safely. There is a constant fear that they will not return,” a 39-year-old shopkeeper in Quetta told AFP.

The Pakistani army announced on January 31 that it was conducting clearing operations in the areas affected by the attack. The statement emphasized that the organizers, perpetrators and accomplices of this terrible and cowardly attack will be held accountable.

On January 30, Pakistani authorities announced that 41 militants had been killed during raids in Balochistan. Official Islamabad claims that India supported the attackers. On January 31, Reuters, citing security sources, wrote that more than 80 people had been killed in the clashes.
