First European flight lands in Caracas since Maduro’s ouster

A flight from Spain arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday night, marking the first direct arrival from Europe since President Nicolas Maduro was captured in early January during a U.S. military operation.

Axar.az reports the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operated by Spain’s Air Europa landed at Maiquetia International Airport, which serves Caracas, shortly after 9:00 p.m. local time (01:00 GMT on Wednesday), according to a flight-tracking website.

Commercial airlines had suspended flights to Venezuela following a U.S. warning issued on November 21 over security risks linked to military activity.
