Russia says boat incident near Cuba is ‘provocation’ by US

The incident with a Florida-registered speedboat in Cuban territorial waters is an aggressive provocation by Washington, aimed at “escalating the situation and triggering a conflict”, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

Axar.az informs that earlier, Cuba’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that a Florida-registered U.S. boat entered Cuban waters. Those on board opened fire on approaching Cuban border guards, who returned fire. Four of the attackers were killed and six others were injured. The commander of Cuba’s border patrol was also wounded.
