Khojaly genocide discussed in Italian Parliament

On February 23, a conference titled "Khojaly – 34 years later: Remembrance and Justice on the Path to Reconciliation” was held in the Senate of Italy to mark the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

Axar.az, citing Azertac, reports that the event was organized at the initiative of Raffaele De Rosa, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Senate.

Senator Marco Scurria stated that the tragedy in Khojaly cannot be forgotten, emphasizing that it is equally important to show courage in envisioning horizons of peace and brotherhood. He added that once peace is achieved in the region, the primary task becomes building a better future.

Highlighting the "Justice for Khojaly!" international campaign initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy Rashad Aslanov noted the importance of joint international efforts to prevent the recurrence of such crimes. The diplomat also spoke about the large-scale reconstruction work currently underway in Garabagh and Khojaly, pointing out that many residents have already returned to their native lands as part of the restoration of life in those territories.

The event concluded with the screening of a video reflecting both the tragic consequences of the genocide.
