Preparations underway for potential U.S. troops in Iran

The U.S. military is making detailed preparations for the potential deployment of ground troops to Iran amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel-led conflict.

Axar.az reports, citing CBS, while President Trump is weighing options, he has not made a final decision. When asked about deploying troops, he said:

“No, I'm not putting troops anywhere. If I were, I certainly wouldn't tell you.”

CBS also reported that senior commanders have submitted planning requests, and movements include elements of the 82nd Airborne Division, the Army’s Global Response Force, and the Marine Expeditionary Unit, with thousands of Marines and three warships already en route to the Middle East.

The planning also includes contingencies for detaining Iranian soldiers or paramilitary operatives if U.S. ground forces are deployed.
