EU to provide €28.3 billion for Ukraine aid

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has reaffirmed Europe’s full support for Ukraine following a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Axar.az reports that von der Leyen shared details of the conversation on her X account.

“Air defence and drone and counter-drone capabilities are among Europe’s most urgent defence priorities. And Ukraine will be fully integrated into these efforts,” she stated.

The European Commission president also said the Ukraine Support Loan would help cover Kyiv’s military needs.

“This year alone, it will provide €28.3 billion to help cover Ukraine’s military needs,” she noted.

Von der Leyen added that she and Zelensky also discussed Ukraine’s path toward EU membership.

“The coming weeks will be important to take decisive steps forward in the accession process,” she stated.
