Putin warns AI could replace millions of jobs

Millions of people around the world could lose their jobs or be forced to change professions due to the development of artificial intelligence technologies.

Axar.az reports this was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum taking place in Astana.

“The labor market is being restructured. A scenario in which millions of people lose their jobs or are forced to change their field of activity is quite realistic. Entire professions may disappear because computer intelligence will replace humans,” the Russian leader said.

Putin added that Russia is currently one of the few countries developing sovereign artificial intelligence platforms. In April, during a meeting on AI development issues, the president instructed the government and regional authorities to prepare a plan for introducing artificial intelligence technologies across all sectors by 2030.
