CENTCOM denies Iran fired on US warships claims

18:30

Iran has carried out a missile and drone attack on US warships in the Gulf of Oman.

Axar.az informs, citing APА, it was noted that Qadir-type missiles and a new type of drones were launched as a warning toward the US destroyers DDG-103 and DDG-87 in the Gulf of Oman.

It was reported that the destroyers subsequently withdrew toward the Indian Ocean.

In addition, the US amphibious assault ship Tripoli also left the Gulf of Oman.

The Iranian military has warned that longer-range missiles will be used in the future if the US continues its "maritime piracy."

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied Iranian claims that any warning shots were fired at US Navy vessels in the Gulf of Oman or Arabian Sea.

In a statement, CENTCOM said that Iranian forces did not attack or fire upon US warships.

"Iranian forces did NOT attack or fire at U.S. Navy warships. Doing so would be a gross violation of the ceasefire. U.S. forces continue to operate freely in regional waters while fully enforcing the ongoing blockade against Iran," the statement read.
