Rosatom halts return of staff to Bushehr plant

Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom has begun returning employees to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant under construction in Iran, but the process had to be suspended due to new strikes, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev told reporters.

Axar.az reports that, citing Russian media, "Several hours ago, the first group of six people began moving to the site, but because of the strikes that took place overnight, we stopped our personnel in Tehran," he said.

The employees are currently staying at the Russian Embassy, and a decision on their next steps will be made soon.

Around 600 Rosatom employees were evacuated from the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in the spring following military strikes on Iran.
