President Donald Trump said the United States previously attempted to supply weapons intended for the Iranian people as part of efforts aimed at weakening the government in Tehran, but claimed that regional partners failed to follow through.
Axar.az reports, citing Fox News, Trump said the U.S. had provided arms to Kurdish groups, whom he described as adversaries of Iran, but alleged the weapons were not used as intended.
“The Kurds let us down,” Trump said. “But I’ll remember that, Kurds.”
Trump added that he had initially opposed the plan, saying he believed the Kurdish forces would ultimately "keep the weapons" rather than distribute them.
