Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has said that Israel is not obliged in any way to comply with the terms of an agreement between the United States and Iran, arguing that the country does not operate under Washington’s authority.
Axar.az reports that Ben-Gvir shared his position on the social media platform X.
“US President Donald Trump’s agreement does not oblige Israel to anything. Israel is an independent, sovereign country and does not answer to the United States. We are infinitely grateful to President Trump, but at the same time, the State of Israel is not a banana republic,” Ben-Gvir wrote.
He argued that Tel Aviv is not a party to the agreement and therefore cannot be bound by it, especially since it does not take Israel’s security interests into account.
“We cannot accept anything less than the complete elimination of Hezbollah in Lebanon. At the same time, we cannot withdraw from areas our army has captured and cleared of terrorist infrastructure,” he added.
It should be noted that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that an agreement has been reached between Iran and the United States, and that the deal will be signed in Switzerland on June 19.
