Lavrov warns West over Russia-Belarus security pact

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reminded Kyiv and Western countries of the Russia–Belarus security guarantees treaty within the Union State framework, under which “a full range of measures” may be taken if necessary.

Axar.az reports that Lavrov said that Belarus is receiving threats from Kyiv aimed at drawing it into the Ukraine conflict.

“I would like to remind those in Kyiv who are engaged in such propaganda and threats, and those in the West who are doing the same and supporting the so-called Nazi regime, that since March 2025 a treaty has been in force between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on security guarantees within the Union State, and if necessary we are ready to take the full range of measures provided for by the treaty to ensure the security of our ally and, of course, the security of the Union State,” Lavrov said during a roundtable with ambassadors on the situation around Ukraine.
