Von der Leyen praises Armenia’s visa progress

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the issue of EU visa liberalization for Armenia, noting that Armenia is making significant efforts in this direction and has already achieved progress.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, von der Leyen made the remarks during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan, when asked when visa-free travel with the European Union might become possible.

“Armenia is the only partner currently engaged in active dialogue with the European Union on visa liberalization. This already demonstrates the level of our partnership. In April, we published a progress action plan report. We know you are committed to this agenda, and we thank you for it; the progress is very impressive, and I know how important this is for Armenia. There will be further assessment missions, and a new mission will arrive this autumn to evaluate progress and the remaining benchmarks,” Ursula von der Leyen said.
