Trump: We gave Iran a week for funeral

U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran is eager to reach an agreement with Washington, adding that the United States temporarily paused negotiations to allow for the funeral of Iran's slain former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that Trump made the remarks during the America 250 Independence Day celebrations at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.

"We beat Venezuela in one day, and we knocked the hell out of Iran; they're dying to settle. They want to settle so badly," Trump said, referring to Iran.

Trump also said the U.S. suspended talks for a week to allow funeral processions for Khamenei.

"We gave him a week off for a funeral because we're nice," he added.
