IRGC fired missiles at ships in Strait of Hormuz

At least two commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz were struck by missiles fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Axios reported on Monday, citing a U.S. official.

Axar.az informs according to the report, the two vessels sustained significant damage, although no casualties were reported.

Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, citing anonymous sources, claimed that an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was targeted after attempting to pass through the Omani route with support from the U.S. Navy.

The tanker was attacked after it ignored repeated warnings, IRIB reported, adding that no Iranian official has confirmed or denied the account.

Meanwhile, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the vessel was about eight nautical miles east of Limah, Oman, when it was struck on its port side, causing a fire. UKMTO added that there were no reported casualties or environmental damage.
