Italy closes borders with Spain over Ceuta crisis

Italy has closed its maritime and air borders with Spain amid the escalation of the migration crisis in the city of Ceuta.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by Italy’s Ministry of the Interior on its X account.

“The decision was made following a meeting of the Immigration and Border Security Analysis Committee chaired by Minister Matteo Piantedosi this morning at the Viminale,” the statement said.

It should be noted that Austria had earlier also announced the closure of its border with Spain within the Schengen area.
