Russian forces have begun carrying out massive attacks on Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast using Banderol jet-powered drones.

Axar.az reports that Viacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, announced this on Facebook.

"Yesterday there were many 'Banderols'. It is a hybrid of a cruise missile and a drone. Its flight speed reaches 650 km/h. They are difficult to shoot down. We will further strengthen our defenders," Chaus wrote.

He also noted that air defense systems in Chernihiv Oblast intercepted about 70% of aerial threats in July, with 865 attack drones shot down and around 200 more either suppressed by electronic warfare systems or lost from radar.

"Many thanks to our defenders—they did an excellent job against enemy targets," Chaus added.
