Iran shot down fourth US MQ-1 drone

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Tuesday that its Aerospace Force’s advanced new air defense system had successfully shot down an MQ-1 drone in Iranian airspace east of the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az reports, citing Islamic Republic News Agency, that the announcement came just hours after the IRGC Public Relations Department disclosed the downing of a similar US drone in the sky, west of the strategic waterway, using the same air defense system, early Tuesday morning.

According to the report, Iran’s integrated air defense system has destroyed four MQ-1 drones over the past several days in the country’s airspace.

Hundreds of intruding drones — including Lucas, Hermes, MQ-1 and MQ-9 types — and other hostile aircraft have been downed by the Iranian air defense forces since the United States and the Israeli regime launched their war of aggression against the Islamic Republic.
