Israeli settlers attacked European ‌diplomats and a French mayor in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, Belgium's foreign minister said, a day after settlers beat an American photojournalist.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that Israeli settlers attacked European diplomats visiting the Palestinian village of Taybeh in the West Bank.

The attackers threw stones at vehicles carrying diplomats from France, Belgium and Poland, and smashed a window of a car belonging to the Belgian consulate.

According to witnesses, seven masked settlers arrived on quad bikes, surrounded a diplomatic vehicle and demanded that those inside present their documents. Footage released by Israel Army Radio shows stones being thrown at one of the vehicles and its window being broken. One of the diplomats can also be seen lying on the ground.

Israeli police launched an investigation after receiving footage of the attack. Police condemned the violence and said they intended to hold all those involved accountable.

The incident occurred amid ongoing tensions in the West Bank, where Palestinians regularly face violence from Israeli settlers.
