Turkiye to receive Russian diesel under US-Russia deal

Turkiye will receive part of the diesel fuel Russia is supplying to global markets under an agreement with US President Donald Trump, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Sunday.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that he said the agreement was important for Turkiye's energy security, as the country relies on Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan and other suppliers to meet its energy needs.

“Russia imposed restrictions on diesel exports in recent months when they started experiencing this problem. Now they reached a diesel deal with Trump... Through the talks we held, we will take some of that diesel to Turkiye,” Bayraktar said.

Bayraktar also said Turkiye plans to bring a second floating gas production platform online in the first quarter of 2028. The platform is expected to increase daily gas production in the Black Sea to 45 million cubic metres.

Turkiye's first floating gas production platform, Osman Gazi, was sent to the Black Sea on Saturday. It is expected to raise output from the Sakarya gas field to 20 million cubic metres per day.
