Cruise ship collides with container vessel in Germany

A cruise ship operated by TUI Cruises has collided with a container vessel while departing the port of Bremerhaven in northern Germany amid strong winds.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that the 293-metre Mein Schiff 3 was beginning a 20-day voyage to Spain’s Canary Islands when it struck the MSC Victorine on Sunday evening.

The collision damaged the container ship’s hull and several lifeboats on the cruise ship.

TUI Cruises confirmed the incident, saying the vessel had returned to the pier for damage assessment. There were 2,428 passengers and 922 crew members on board. No injuries have been reported.
