Unidentified projectile hits vessel near Iran’s Lavan Island

A vessel has caught fire after being struck by an unidentified projectile about 40 nautical miles south of Iran’s Lavan Island.

Axar.az reports, citing a statement posted by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on X, that the projectile struck the vessel on its port side, causing a fire onboard.

UKMTO said all crew members were safe and no environmental impact had been reported.

The organisation advised vessels operating in the area to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity while authorities investigate the incident.
