Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to make use of the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Communication Line launched between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Axar.az reports, citing Kazakh media, that Tokayev made the remarks while addressing the OTS summit in Ankara.
“Recently (October 15 – ed.), a Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line was launched between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Turkic states will also be able to benefit from this unique project,” Tokayev said.
He also urged OTS members to accelerate initiatives to establish a Cybersecurity Council, as well as digital monitoring and innovation centers.
“Undoubtedly, these projects will contribute to further expanding our countries’ partnership in the digital sphere,” the Kazakh leader said.
Tokayev also proposed holding a business forum of Turkic countries in Kazakhstan in 2027.
“To deepen economic integration, we should make use of the opportunities offered by the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During Kazakhstan’s chairmanship of this organization, a number of events were held and important documents were prepared. To give additional momentum to this work, a business forum could be held in our country in 2027,” the president added.
