Tanker targeted with explosives in Strait of Hormuz

A tanker caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz after being approached by a small boat that attached two explosive devices to its hull.

Axar.az reports that, according to a statement shared by UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on X, the incident occurred approximately 25 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman, as the tanker was transiting outbound.

The explosions caused a fire in the vessel's engine room, temporarily disabling the tanker. The fire has since been extinguished, and the vessel is continuing to its next port of call.

UKMTO later confirmed that all crew members were safe and there was no environmental impact.

The agency advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity while authorities investigate the incident.
